On our own motion, we hereby extend the deadline dates for the filing of comments and reply comments to the Notice of Proposed Rulemaking in the above- captioned proceeding. 1 The filing date for comments is extended from July 14, 2000 to thirty days after the Notice of Proposed Rulemaking is published in the Federal Register, and the filing date for reply comments is extended from August 14, 2000 to sixty days after the Notice of Proposed Rulemaking is published in the Federal Register. 2. We believe that the original filing dates may not provide an adequate opportunity for interested parties to comment on the proposals set forth in the Notice of Proposed Rulemaking, which relate to the use of advanced digital data transmissions and the implementation of Flight Information Services for air traffic control and ground- to- air communications. We therefore extend the deadline dates in order to permit all interested parties a greater opportunity to study the proposals and prepare more extensive comments, thus developing a comprehensive record. We find that this extension will not cause undue delay to the Commission's consideration of this proceeding. 3. Accordingly, pursuant to the authority of Section 4( j) of the Communications Act of 1934, as amended, 47 U. S. C. § 154( j), and Section 1.46 of the Commission's Rules, 47 C. F. R. § 1.46, IT IS ORDERED that the period of time for the filing of comments is EXTENDED from July 14, 2000, to August 2, 2000, and that the period of time for the filing of reply comments is EXTENDED from August 1 Amendment of Parts 2 and 87 of the Commission’s Rules to Accommodate Advanced Digital Communications in the 117.975- 137 MHz Band and to Implement Flight Information Services in the 136- 137 MHz Band, Notice of Proposed Rulemaking, FCC 00- 160 (rel. May 15, 2000). 1 2 Federal Communications Commission DA 00- 1462 14, 2000, to September 1, 2000. Interested parties shall file comments and reply comments in the above-captioned proceeding according to these revised dates. 4. This action is taken under delegated authority pursuant to Sections 0.131 and 0.331 of the Commission's Rules, 47 C. F. R. §§ 0.131, 0.331. FEDERAL COMMUNICATIONS COMMISSION Ramona E.
