C. 20554 DA 00- 2299 October 11, 2000 COUNCIL OF ORGANIZATIONAL REPRESENTATIVES WITHDRAWS PETITION FOR PARTIAL RECONSIDERATION OF THE COMMISSION’S REPORT AND ORDER, IMPLEMENTATION OF SECTION 255 AND 251 OF THE COMMUNICATION ACT OF 1934 WT DOCKET NO: 96- 198 On December 20, 1999 the Council of Organizational Representatives (COR) submitted a petition for partial reconsideration of the Commission’s Report and Order, Implementation of Sections 255 and 251( a)( 2) of the Communications Act of 1934, as added by the 1996 Telecommunications Act, FCC 99- 181, WT Docket No. 96- 198, released September 29, 1999. In the Petition for Partial Reconsideration, COR requested that the FCC reconsider its decision in that proceeding regarding hearing aid compatibility and volume control on telephone receivers (codified in Commission rule 68.317). Specifically, COR requested that the Commission increase the maximum permitted level of gain from 18dB to 20dB. Notice of the petition for reconsideration was published on July 13, 2000 in the Federal Register, 65 FR 43372, Report No. 2423. The Commission received two comments in response to the notice. On September 19, 2000, pending Commission review of the record, COR withdrew its petition. With the withdrawal of this petition the Commission completes its review of the issues in the First Report and Order in WT Docket No. 96- 198.
