In response to a Petition for Rule Making filed by PhaarNorth Radio (“ PhaarNorth”), the Commission has before it for consideration the Notice of Proposed Rule Making, adopted January 24, 2001, DA No. 01- 253, proposing the allotment of Channel 291A at Northome, Minnesota, as the community’s first local aural transmission service. On March 26, 2001, PhaarNorth filed a request for withdrawal of its petition. 1 A showing of continuing interest is required before a channel will be allotted to a community. It is the Commission’s policy to refrain from making an allotment to a community absent an expression of interest. No other comments were received at the Commission in response to the Notice issued in this proceeding. Therefore, we will grant PharrNort h’s request to dismiss its petition for rulemaking requesting an allotment at Northome, Minnesota. 2.
