 PETITION  SEEKING  DECLARATORY  RULING  THAT 
 EPG  INFORMATION  MAY  BE  STRIPPED  FROM  BROADCAST  VBI

 Pursuant  to  an  Order  released  today  by  the  Cable  Services  Bureau,  the  filing  deadlines 
 have  been  extended  for  responding  to  Time  Warner  Cable’s  (“  Time  Warner”)  Petition  for 
 Declaratory  Ruling.  In  its  petition,  Time  Warner  requests  that  the  Commission  find  that 
 electronic  program  guide  (“  EPG”)  data  transmitted  in  the  vertical  blanking  interval  (“  VBI”)  of 
 local  broadcast  television  stations  are  not  entitled  to  must  carry  protection.  Comments  and 
 oppositions  to  Time  Warner’s  petition  are  now  due  on  or  before  June  18,  2001  and  reply 
 comments  are  now  due  on  or  before  June  28,  2001.  All  filings  should  reference  the  case  identifier 
 assigned  to  this  proceeding,  CSR  5698-  Z. 


 For  purposes  of  the  Commission’s  ex  parte  rules,  this  proceeding  is  considered  as  non-restricted 
 pursuant  to  Section  1.1206  of  the  Commission's  rules  ("  Permit-  but-  disclose
