(“ Verizon”) to file the performance measurement data required by the Bell Atlantic/ NYNEX Merger Order while the Commission considers Verizon’s request to terminate the reporting requirement. 1 Specifically, the deadline is extended from July 15, 2001 to August 15, 2001. In the Bell Atlantic/ NYNEX Merger Order, the Commission required Verizon to file performance data for 22 performance measurements that gauge Verizon’s progress in opening its local network to competition. 2 Verizon files the performance data with the Commission on a quarterly basis, 45 days after the end of each quarter. 3 Verizon’s next scheduled filing date is July 15, 2001 for first quarter 2001, based on an extension the Bureau granted Verizon on June 15, 2001. 4 Verizon’s last filing would be November 15, 2001 for the third quarter of 2001. 5 On March 8, 2001, Verizon asked the Common Carrier Bureau to relieve the company of its remaining reporting obligations under the Bell Atlantic/ NYNEX Merger Order. 6 On March 30, 2001, the Bureau sought comment on Verizon’s request. 7 The Bureau, on its own motion, herein further extends the deadline for Verizon to file its first quarter 2001 performance data from July 15, 2001 to August 15, 2001. 8 This extension provides additional time for the Commission to consider Verizon’s pending request 1 Applications of NYNEX Corporation, Transferor, and Bell Atlantic Corporation, Transferee, For Consent to Transfer Control of NYNEX Cooperation and Its Subsidiaries, Memorandum Opinion and Order, NSD- L- 96- 10, 12 FCC Rcd 19985, 20107- 08, 20113- 23 (1997) (“ Bell Atlantic/ NYNEX Merger Order”). 2 Id. at 20107- 08. 3 Id. 4 Letter from Kenneth Moran, Chief, Accounting Safeguards Division, Common Carrier Bureau, to Gordon Evans, Vice President, Federal Regulatory, Verizon (June 15, 2001). 5 Bell Atlantic/ NYNEX Merger Order, 12 FCC Rcd at 20070.
