SIMONS, TRUSTEE, SEEKS EXTENSION OF WIRELESS ASSETS TRUST On June 26, 2000, the Wireless Telecommunications Bureau (“ Bureau”) granted consent for Bell Atlantic Corporation, now known as Verizon Communications, Inc. (“ Verizon”), GTE Corporation (“ GTE”), and Vodafone AirTouch Plc (“ Vodafone”) to place certain wireless licenses in trust for purposes of divestiture. See In re Applications of GTE Corporation, Vodafone AirTouch PLC, and Bell Atlantic Corporation for Consent to Transfer Control of or Assign Properties to Divestiture Trust and for temporary Waivers of the CMRS Spectrum Cap Rule, DA 00- 1414 (WTB, rel. June 26, 2000) (“ Trust Order”). On August 29, 2000, wireless assets for operations in Chicago, including a PCS license, were transferred to a trust administered by the approved trustee, Joseph J. Simons, Esq. (“ Trustee”). Pursuant to the Trust Order, any such divestiture trust was limited to 180 days duration. On February 21, 2001, the Bureau extended the period of the divestiture trust through August 25, 2001. See Wireless Telecommunications Bureau Grants Request of Joseph J. Simons, Esq., Trustee, To Extend Divestiture Trust, DA 01- 467 (rel. Feb. 21, 2001). An application to assign the Chicago PCS license to PrimeCo Acquisition LLC was filed on June 25, 2001. On July 9, 2001, the Trustee requested a further extension of time through fifteen business days after Commission action on the pending assignment application for the Chicago PCS licenses becomes final. Interested parties are invited to comment concerning the Trustee’s request by July 31, 2001. Reply submissions are due by August 3, 2001.
