Bryant) x Representative for competitive local exchange carriers (position formerly held by Heather B. Gold) x Representative for the largest incumbent local exchange carriers (position currently held by Frank J. Gumper) x Representative for consumer advocates (position currently held by Martha S. Hogerty) x Representative for libraries that are eligible to receive discounts (position currently held by Kathleen G. Ouye) x Representative for cable operators (position currently held by Lisa Rosenblum) x Representative for commercial mobile radio service providers (position currently held by Thomas E. Wheeler) The terms of the above Board members, with the exception of Heather B. Gold, are scheduled to expire on December 31, 2001. The Board position previously held by Heather B. Gold was vacant as of July 4, 2001. On behalf of the Federal Communications Commission, the 1 47 C. F. R. § 54. 703 (c). 1 2 Common Carrier Bureau wishes to thank each of the Board members listed above for their diligent efforts and dedicated service on the USAC Board. Pursuant to section 54.703( c)( 1) of the Commission’s rules, only members of the industry group that a Board member will represent may submit a nomination for that position (e. g., only consumer advocates may submit nominations for the Board member who will represent consumer advocates). In order to expedite the appointment process, members of the relevant industry group are encouraged to nominate a single candidate who possesses substantial experience in, and knowledge of, telecommunications issues. If members of the relevant industry group fail to reach consensus on a candidate to serve on the Board, or fail to submit a nomination for the particular Board member seat, the Chairman of the Federal Communications Commission will select an individual from that industry group to serve on the Board. Pursuant to section 54.703( c)( 2) of the Commission’s rules, 2 each nomination must be captioned: “In the Matter of: Nomination for Universal Service Administrative Company Board of Directors, CC Docket Nos. 97- 21 and 96- 45.” An original and four copies of each nomination must be filed, in accordance with Part 1 of the Commission’s rules, with the Commission’s Secretary, Magalie Roman Salas, Office of the Secretary, Federal Communications Commission, 445 – 12 th Street, S.
