C. 20554 In the Matter of Deployment of Wireline Services Offering Advanced Telecommunications Capability ) ) ) ) CC Docket No. 98- 147 MEMORANDUM OPINION AND ORDER Adopted: September 18, 2001 Released: September 18, 2001 By the Chief, Policy and Program Planning Division: 1. On September 17, 2001, the Verizon telephone companies (Verizon) filed a petition for a temporary waiver of the effective date of rules the Commission adopted in the Collocation Remand Order. 1 Those rules will take effect on September 19, 2001. 2 Verizon requests that we postpone that effective date to September 28, 2001 for Verizon. Verizon states that emergency conditions resulting from the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon warrant this limited extension. 2. Verizon has shown compelling good cause for the requested extension. 3 We therefore grant Verizon’s waiver request. 3. Accordingly, IT IS ORDERED, pursuant to sections 1- 4, 201, 251, and 303( r) of the Communications Act of 1934, as amended, 47 U. S.
