C. 20554 DA 01- 2334 News media information 202/ 418- 0500 Fax- On- Demand 202/ 418- 2830 Internet: http:// www. fcc. gov ftp. fcc. gov Released: October 5, 2001 WIRELESS TELECOMMUNICATIONS BUREAU GRANTS 135 LOCATION AND MONITORING SERVICE LICENSES Auction Event No. 39 Report No. AUC- 39 (Auction No. 39) On September 4, 2001, the Wireless Telecommunications Bureau announced that it was prepared to grant applications for 135 licenses to winning bidders in the Location and Monitoring Service Auction (Auction 39), provided that each applicant made full and timely payment of the remaining balance of its winning bid. 1 The final payment deadline was September 18, 2001. 2 The Commission received full and timely payment, as required by section 1.2109( a) of the Commission’s rules, for 135 licenses. Accordingly, by this Public Notice, we announce the grant of the 135 Location and Monitoring Service licenses listed in Attachment A. We grant these licenses pursuant to section 309( a) of the Communications Act of 1934, as amended, 47 U. S. C. § 309( a), and section 0.331 of the Commission's Rules, 47 C. F. R. § 0.331, because it will serve the public interest, convenience and necessity.
