 THE  WIRELESS  TELECOMMUNICATIONS  BUREAU  ANNOUNCES 
 THE  GRANT  OF  LICENSES  TO  OPERATE  VHF  PUBLIC  COAST  SERVICE

 On  September  6,  2001,  the  Wireless  Telecommunications  Bureau  announced  that  it  was  prepared 
 to  grant  four  long-  form  applications  (FCC  Form  601)  for  eleven  VHF  Public  Coast  service  licenses, 
 provided  that  the  applicants  submit  a  final  payment  on  the  licenses  by  either  the  initial  or  late  payment 
 deadline.  1  Because  the  applicants  fully  complied  with  our  payment  instructions,  on  October  9,  2001,  we 
 granted  the  eleven  VHF  Public  Coast  service  licenses.  We  granted  these  licenses  pursuant  to  Section 
 309(  a)  of  the  Communications  Act  of  1934,  as  amended,  2  and  Section  0.331  of  the  Commission’s  Rules  3 
 because  it  will  serve  the  public  interest,  convenience  and  necessity.
