C. 20554 DA 01- 2385 October 16, 2001 WIRELESS TELECOM ACTION COMMENTS INVITED ON PHILADELPHIA METROPOLITAN AREA (REGION 28) PUBLIC SAFETY REGIONAL PLAN AMENDMENT (Gen. Docket # 89- 573) Comment Date: November 14, 2001 Reply Date: November 29, 2001 On September 12, 2000, Region 28 submitted a proposed amendment to its Public Safety Plan that would revise the current channel allotments to reflect changes made as a result of Region 28 Filing Window 6B. The requested amendment proposes modification of the Region’s frequency allocation tables to provide new assignments as reflected in Appendix 1, a copy of which is attached. Filing Window 6 was divided into two parts (6A and 6B) to expedite the assignment process. The FCC approved filing window 6A (DA 01- 328) on February 9, 2001. Filing Window 6B includes those applications whose 5 dBu contours extended beyond the Region 28 boundaries for which they had requested and received letters of concurrence from adjacent Regions 8 (New York metropolitan area), 20 (Washington, D. C., Maryland and Northern Virginia), and 36 (Western Pennsylvania). Region 28 cited that no response was received from Regions 30 (New York - Albany) and 55 (New York – Buffalo), as there was no impact to their Regions from any of the Window 6B assignments. In accordance with the National Public Safety Plan, each region is responsible for planning its use of public safety radio frequency spectrum in the 800 MHz bands. 1 The Public Safety Plan for Region 28, which was adopted by the Commission on February 2, 1990, governs the use of frequency assignments in the 821- 824/ 866- 869 MHz bands within Delaware, Eastern Pennsylvania, and the Southern New Jersey area. 2 The Commission is soliciting comments from the public before taking action on this proposed plan amendment. Copies of the Region 28 amendment request may be viewed at the Commission’s 1 See Development and Implementation of a Public Safety National Plan and Amendment of Part 90 to Establish Service Rules and Technical Standards for Use of the 821- 824/ 866- 869 MHz Bands by the Public Safety Services.
