 By  the  Common  Carrier  Bureau: 
 1.  On  October  2,  2001,  BellSouth  Corporation  and  BellSouth  Long  Distance,  Inc. 
 (BellSouth)  filed  a  joint  application  for  authorization  to  provide  in-  region,  interLATA  service  originating  in 
 Georgia  and  Louisiana,  pursuant  to  section  271  of  the  Communications  Act  of  1934,  as  amended,  47 
 U.  S.  C.  §  271.  On  December  20,  2001,  BellSouth  filed  an  ex  parte  letter  in  this  docket  withdrawing  its 
 application.  1  As  such,  we  hereby  terminate  this  docket.  BellSouth  further  expressed  its  intention  to 
 “shortly  file  to  initiate  a  new  application”  and  to  incorporate  the  existing  record  in  this  docket  into  the  new 
 application.  We  will  consider  such  a  request  once  BellSouth  files  a  new  application. 


 2.  Accordingly,  IT  IS  ORDERED,  pursuant  to  authority  delegated  under  sections  0.  91  and 
 0.291  of  the  Commission’s  rules,  47  C.  F.  R.  §§  0.91  and  0.291,  that  the  proceeding  in  CC  Docket  No.  01- 
 277  IS  TERMINATED.
