1. On August 31,1999, the Commission released a Memorandum Opinion and Order 
denying a petition filed by Ameritech Corporation (Ameritech) requesting that the Commission 
forbear from applying the provisions of section 275(a) of the Communications Act of 1934, as 
amended, to Ameritech's alarm monitoring operations.1 On September 30,1999, Ameritech filed 
a petition for reconsideration of that order. On December 11,2000, Ameritech's successor in 
interest, SBC Communications Inc. (SBC), filed a letter with the Secretary, FCC, withdrawing 
Ameritech's petition for reconsideration.2 In view of SBC's withdrawal of the petition for 
reconsideration of the Ameritech Alarm Monitoring Order, there are no remaining issues to 
address in this docket.
2. Accordingly, IT IS ORDERED, pursuant to sections 0.91 and 0.291 of the 
Commission's rules, 47 C.F.R. ยงยง 0.91 and 0.291, that this proceeding, CC Docket No. 98-65, IS 
HEREBY TERMINATED and CC Docket No. 98-65 IS CLOSED.
