Before the Commission for consideration is the Notice of Proposed Rule Making (“ Notice”), (DA 00- 2420), released October 27, 2000, issued in response to a petition filed on behalf of Santa Cruz Broadcasting (“ petitioner”) proposing the allotment of FM Channel 263A to Sonoita, Arizona, as that locality’s first local aural transmission service. Petitioner initially filed supporting comments in response to the Notice, but subsequently filed a request for withdrawal of its petition and associated comments. 1 , 2 2. As stated in the Appendix to the Notice, a showing of continuing interest is required before a channel will be allot t ed. Based upon the pet it ioner’s wit hdrawal of int erest in pursuing its proposal, and in accordance with Commission policy, we will grant pet it ioner’s request t o wit hdraw it s rule making proposal. See Alexander City, Alabama and West Point, Georgia, 9 FCC Rcd 2823 (1994). 3. Accordingly, IT IS ORDERED, That the petition for rule making filed on behalf of Santa Cruz Broadcasting (RM- 9979) requesting the allotment of Channel 263A to Sonoita, Arizona, IS DISMISSED 4. IT IS FURTHER ORDERED, That this proceeding IS TERMINATED. 1 Petitioner’s request was late- filed.
