 COMMON  CARRIER  BUREAU  EXTENDS  DEADLINE  FOR  FIRST  ANNUAL  CERTIFICATION  OF  COMPLIANCE 
 WITH  GEOGRAPHIC  DEAVERAGING  AND  RATE  INTEGRATION  REQUIREMENTS  TO  AUGUST  1,  2001

 Section  64.1900  of  the  Commission’s  rules  requires  nondominant  interexchange  carriers 
 (IXCs)  to  file  annual  certifications  that  they  satisfy  the  geographic  rate  averaging  and  rate 
 integration  obligations  of  section  254(  g)  of  the  Communications  Act.  1  The  Bureau  had  previously 
 established  a  deadline  for  the  first  of  these  annual  certifications  of  May  1,  2001,  i.  e.,  the  day  after 
 the  April  30,  2001  transition  deadline  for  detariffing  mass  market  consumer  services.  2  Because 
 the  Bureau  subsequently  extended  the  transition  deadline  to  July  31,  2001,  3  we  now  extend  the 
 initial  certification  deadline  to  August  1,  2001.  Subsequent  annual  certifications  should  continue 
 to  be  filed  on  May  1  of  each  year,  starting  in  2002.
