 FLORIDA  (REGION  9)  PUBLIC  SAFETY  COMMITTEE  RECEIVES  APPROVAL  FOR 
 MINOR  AMENDMENT  TO  ITS  REGIONAL  PUBLIC  SAFETY  PLAN 
 (GEN.  DOCKET  NO.  90-  119) 


 By  this  Public  Notice,  the  Commission  announces  that  the  Florida  Region  9  Committee  proposal 
 to  amend  the  Florida  Public  Safety  Radio  Plan  (Region  9  Plan)  revising  the  current  channel 
 allotments  for  radio  frequencies  in  the  821-  824/  866-  869  MHz  bands  within  the  Florida  area  is 
 approved.  The  amendment  revises  the  channel  allotments  to  reflect  changes  made  to  Appendices 
 G  and  H  (previously  Tables  IV  and  V,  respectively),  including  benchmark  dates.  The  amendment 
 includes  the  following  provisions: 


 x  Re-  index  Tables  VI,  VII,  VIII  to  Tables  IV,  V,  and  VI,  respectively. 
 x  Update  information  for  Florida  Committee  members  (Table  I). 
 x  Revise  Section  4.5  to  define  simultaneous  receipt  of  two  or  more  applications. 
 x  Revise  Section  5.3.1  (B)  for  more  emphasis  on  coverage  equivalency. 
 x  Add  a  new  Section  5.4.6  to  address  Radio  Frequency  Control  Stations. 


 On  December  29,  2000,  the  Commission  issued  a  Public  Notice  (DA  00-  2918)  inviting  interested 
 parties  to  file  comments  regarding  a  proposed  amendment  to  the  Region  9  Plan  that  was  filed  with 
 the  Commission  on  October  13,  2000.  We  have  reviewed  the  Region  9  request  and  find  that  it 
 furthers  the  Region’s  spectrum  planning  and  management  capability.  Further,  we  have  received 
 no  comments  in  response  to  the  Public  Notice  of  December  29,  2000.  The  amendment  is, 
 therefore,  accepted  and  approved  as  submitted.  The  Secretary’s  office  will  place  the  amended 
 Region  9  Plan  in  the  official  docket  file  where  it  will  remain  available  to  the  public. 


 In  accordance  with  the  Public  Safety  National  Plan,  each  region  is  responsible  for  planning  its  use 
 of  public  safety  radio  frequency  spectrum  in  the  821-  824/  866-  869  MHz  bands.  Report  and 
 Order,  General  Docket  No.  87-  112,  3  FCC  Rcd  905  (1987).  The  Region  9  Public  Safety  Plan 
 was  originally  adopted  by  the  Commission  on  May  10,  1990,  Order,  General  Docket  90-  119,  5 
 FCC  Rcd  3067  (1990).  The  Plan  was  subsequently  revised  on  May  7,  1991,  6  FCC  Rcd  2607 
 (1991),  November  25,  1991,  6  FCC  Rcd  7180  (1991),  September  17,  1993,  8  FCC  Rcd  7038 
 (1993),  March  23,  1994,  9  FCC  Rcd  1644  (1994),  June  19,  1995,  10  FCC  Rcd  7167  (1995),
