These tests are being submitted in the record for public comment as part of our proceeding on the authorization of UWB devices. As the Commission stated in its Notice of Proposed Rulemaking in ET Docket 98- 153, it will consider the submissions and public comments addressing further testing and analysis before adopting final rules. On March 5, 2001, Qualcomm submitted a report addressing interference potential to the operation of Personal Communications Services (PCS) telephones. On March 9, 2001, Time Domain Inc., through the University of Texas and Johns Hopkins University, submitted a report addressing interference potential to Global Positioning System (GPS) receivers. On March 9, the National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA) submitted a report addressing interference potential to GPS receivers. On March 21, 2001, the Department of Transportation (DOT), through Stanford University, submitted a report addressing interference potential to GPS receivers. DOT also submitted an earlier report on October 30, 2000, addressing interference to GPS receivers as part of its reply comments. Comments on these reports shall be filed by no later than April 25, 2001. Replies to the comments shall be filed no later than May 10, 2001. Comments and replies are to be filed with the Commission following the same procedures applicable to the Notice of Proposed Rule Making in this proceeding, ET Docket No. 98-153. However, in order to permit us to resolve issues raised in the UWB rule making proceeding in a timely manner we will not delay the process indefinitely.
