C. 20554 -FCC- News Media Information 202 / 418- 0500 Fax- On- Demand 202 / 418- 2830 TTY 202 / 418- 2555 Internet: http:// www. fcc. gov ftp. fcc. gov DA 01- 755 Released: March 27, 2001 COMMON CARRIER BUREAU ANNOUNCES EFFECTIVE DATE OF RULES ADOPTED IN SLAMMING THIRD REPORT AND ORDER Rules Become Effective on April 2, 2001 CC Docket No. 94- 129 The Common Carrier Bureau of the Federal Communications Commission announces that the rules the Commission adopted in its Third Report and Order and Second Order on Reconsideration (Third Report and Order) in the slamming proceeding, Implementation of the Subscriber Carrier Selection Changes Provisions of the Telecommunications Act of 1996, Policies and Rules Concerning Unauthorized Changes of Consumers Long Distance Carriers, CC Docket No. 94- 129, FCC 00- 255 (rel. August 15, 2000) and amended in a subsequent Order, FCC 01- 67 (rel. February 22, 2001), will take effect on April 2, 2001. The Commission’s slamming rules are designed to improve the carrier change process for consumers and carriers while making it more difficult for unscrupulous carriers to perpetrate slams. The following rule provisions adopted in the Commission’s Third Report and Order contained information collections: sections 64.1130( a) through (c), 64.1130( i), 64.1130( j), 64.1180, 64.1190( d) and (e), and 64.1195. A summary of the amended Third Report and Order was published in the Federal Register at 66 FR 12877 (March 1, 2001) and was corrected at 66 FR 16151 (March 23, 2001). The information collections contained in section 64.1195 were approved by the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) on March 1, 2001. OMB No. 3060- 0855. The information collections contained in sections 64.1130, 64.1180, and 64.1190 were approved by OMB on March 22, 2001. OMB No. 3060- 0787. As stated in the Third Report and Order, notice of the April 2, 2001 effective date will be published in the Federal Register.
