C. 20554 In the Matter of Review of the Commission’s Broadcast and Cable Equal Employment Opportunity Rules and Policies ) ) ) ) ) ) MM Docket No. 98- 204 ORDER Adopted: April 29, 2002 Released: May 1, 2002 By the Chief, Media Bureau: 1. On April 25, 2002, the Minority Media and Telecommunications Council (“ MMTC”) filed a Motion for Extension of Reply Comment Deadline. MMTC seeks an extension of the deadline for reply comments responsive to the Second Notice of Proposed Rule Making, 16 FCC Rcd 22843 (2001), in this proceeding. Reply Comments are currently due on May 15, 2002. MMTC requests an extension of the deadline for two weeks until May 29, 2002. 2. MMTC states that the additional time is necessary to enable it to analyze and respond to the extensive comments filed in this proceeding. In addition, MMTC notes that it also intends to file reply comments in MM Docket No. 01- 317, concerning multiple ownership of radio broadcast stations in local markets, which are due by May 8, 2002. 3. We believe that the public interest would be served by granting the requested extension of the reply comment deadline. The Commission seeks comment on a wide range of issues relating to the broadcast and cable equal employment opportunity rules. We believe that the brief extension requested will enable MMTC and other parties to prepare comprehensive replies that will help the Commission in its decision- making and resolving the complex and significant public policy issues raised in this proceeding. 4. Accordingly, IT IS ORDERED that MMTC’s Motion for Extension of Reply Comment Deadline is GRANTED. 5. IT IS FURTHER ORDERED that the reply comment deadline in this proceeding is EXTENDED to May 29, 2002, for all parties. 6. This action is taken pursuant to delegated authority under Section 0.321 of the Commission’s Rules, 47 C. F. R. § 0.321. FEDERAL COMMUNICATIONS COMMISSION W. Kenneth Ferree Chief, Media Bureau 1
