C. 20554 In the Matter of ) ) Spectrum Policy Task Force ) DA 02- 1311 Seeks Public Comment on Issues ) ET Docket No. 02- 135 Related to Commission’s ) Spectrum Policies ) ORDER Adopted: June 20, 2002 Released: June 21, 2002 By the Chief, Office of Engineering and Technology: 1. On June 6, 2002, the Spectrum Policy Task Force issued a Public Notice (“ Notice”) seeking public comment on various spectrum policy issues. 1 The Notice states that interested parties may file comments by July 8, 2002 and reply comments by July 23, 2002. On June 10, 2002, United Telecom Council (“ UTC”) filed a motion for an extension of time in which to file comments. On June 12, 2002, the Land Mobile Communications Council (“ LMCC”) filed a letter in support of UTC’s motion. UTC asserts that it needs additional time in order to “participate fully” due to the nature of the questions presented in the Notice, as well as the fact that UTC is participating in two other Commission proceedings with similar comment deadlines. LMCC cites similar concerns. 2. We hereby deny UTC’s motion for extension of time. It is the policy of the Commission that extensions are not routinely granted. 2 Given the timeframe for the Spectrum Policy Task Force’s inquiry, as set forth in the Notice, an extension of time would not permit full consideration of all the public comments. As a result, the record in the proceeding must be developed according to the comment dates provided in the Notice. UTC has not shown good cause for an extension of time. 1 “Spectrum Policy Task Force Seeks Public Comment on Issues Related to Commission’s Spectrum Policies,” ET Docket No. 02- 135, DA 02- 1311 (rel. June 6, 2002). 2 47 C. F. R. § 1.46( a). 1 Federal Communications Commission DA 02- 1456 3.
