C. 20554 DA 02- 2002 August 12, 2002 WIRELESS TELECOMMUNICATIONS BUREAU ACTION SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA AREA (REGION 5) RECEIVES APPROVAL FOR MINOR AMENDMENTS TO ITS 800 MHz PUBLIC SAFETY PLAN (GENERAL DOCKET NO. 89- 97) By this Public Notice, the Wireless Telecommunications Bureau (Bureau) announces that the Southern California Area (Region 5) Regional Planning Committee's proposal to amend the Region 5 800 MHz Public Safety Regional Plan is approved. On April 17, 2002, Region 5 filed an amendment, which proposes to modify the frequency assignment list of the Region 5 plan. The amendment revises the current channel allotments for radio frequencies in the 821- 824/ 866- 869 MHz bands within the Southern California area as indicated below: € Imperial County Deleted Channels: 607, 630, 645, 668, 683, 706, 722, 743, 759, 781, 799 and 825 € San Bernardino County Additions: 609, 611, 613, 627, 629, 631, 651, 665, 667, 685, 689, 703, 705, 721, 727, 729, 741, 759, 761, 765, 779, 801, 803, 805, 819, 821 and 823 € San Diego County Additions: 680 and 797 € Riverside County Additions: 607, 633, 635, 645, 671, 683, 709, 721, 747, 759, 785, 797, 799, 819, 821, 823 and 827 News media information 202 / 418- 0500 Fax- On- Demand 202 / 418- 2830 TTY 202 / 418- 2555 Internet: http:// www. fcc. gov ftp. fcc. gov 1 In accordance with the National Public Safety Plan, each region is responsible for planning its use of public safety radio frequency spectrum in the 821- 824/ 866- 869 MHz bands. 1 The Region 5 Plan was originally adopted by the Commission on November 8, 1989, Order, General Docket 89- 97, 4 FCC Rcd 8352 (1989) and subsequently revised by letter on November 4, 1994, 9 FCC Rcd 6716 (1994), and by Order on February 28, 1995, 10 FCC Rcd 2824 (1995). The Plan was further modified by letter on April 19, 1996 to reflect changes made during a filing window, and again by Public Notice on October 7, 1997 (Report No. WT 97- 39) to assign certain frequencies to new users in Region 5, and most recently, by Public Notice on December 14, 2000, 15 FCC Rcd 24573 (2000). On May 20, 2002, the Public Safety and Private Wireless Division issued a Public Notice (DA 02- 1200) inviting interested parties to file comments regarding a proposed amendment to the Region 5 Plan. 2 We have reviewed the Region 5 request, which is a minor change to the Region 5 Plan. Further, we have received no comments in response to the Public Notice of May 20, 2002. The amendment is, therefore, accepted and approved as submitted. The Secretary's office will place the amended Region 5 Plan in the official docket file, where it will remain available to the public.
