C. 20554 News Media Information 202 / 418- 0500 Internet: http:// www. fcc. gov TTY: 1- 888- 835- 5322 DA 02- 2022 August 16, 2002 Adjustment to the list of Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) Numbers that require the filing of the electronic version of the FCC Form 740 Under Part 2, Subpart K of the Commission’s rules anyone importing radio frequency devices into the United States is required to declare the conditions under which such devices are imported. Importers are also responsible for determining when declarations are required. To assist importers who use the U. S. Customs Service electronic filing process, the FCC provides the Customs Service with a list of HTS numbers of particular interest to the FCC. As of September 15, 2002, the Commission will require an FCC declaration for all radio frequency devices imported under the HTS number below. If electronic filing is not available in an area or if a particular importer is unable to make the required declaration electronically, the required declaration is to be made on the FCC Form 740: Statement Regarding the Importation of Radio Frequency Devices Capable of Causing Harmful Interference. The HTS number for which an FCC declaration is now required is: 8517.11.0000 The addition of this number to the list of items for which an FCC declaration is required will aid the U. S. Customs Service and the Commission in identifying and preventing the illegal importation of cordless phones into the United States that are not approved by the FCC for marketing or use in the United States.
