C. 20554 Internet: http:// www. fcc. gov ftp. fcc. gov DA 02- 2071 Released: August 22, 2002 MICHAEL de LEÓN HAWTHORNE, TRUSTEE, SEEKS FURTHER EXTENSION OF WIRELESS ASSETS TRUST CC Docket No. 01- 73 On August 10, 2001, the Commission consented to the transfer of control of licenses held by Chorus Communications, Inc. (“ Chorus”) to Telephone and Data Systems, Inc. (“ TDS”). 1 As a condition of that consent, Chorus was required to dispose of its interest in Madison SMSA Limited Partnership, and was permitted to place that interest in a trust for purposes of divestiture. On September 4, 2001, the subject interest was transferred to a trust administered by the approved trustee, Michael de León Hawthorne (“ Trustee”). The consent further provided that any such divestiture trust was limited to 180 days’ duration. On February 4, 2002, the Trustee requested an initial extension permitting the duration of this trust for an additional 180 days beyond the current March 4, 2002 expiration date. 2 The Wireless Telecommunications Bureau (“ Bureau”) found that the public interest would be served by the extension and granted the request to extend the trust for 180 days through September 3, 2002. 3 On July 31, 2002, the Trustee formally requested that the Commission further extend the permitted duration of the trust for an additional 180 days beyond the current September 3, 2002 expiration date. 4 Interested parties are invited to comment concerning the Trustee’s request by August 28, 2002. Copies of the Trustee’s request and any subsequently- filed documents will be available electronically on the Commission’s Electronic Comment Filing System (“ ECFS”) under CC Docket No. 01- 73.
