The Media Bureau (the “Bureau”) has before it a request filed by Paxson Communications Corporation (“ Paxson”) that the Bureau increase the six- month DTV construction permit extensions granted to the above referenced stations to twelve months. For the reasons stated below, we deny the request. 2. Pursuant to the Commission’s Rules, the Bureau may only grant DTV construction permit extensions for a period of six- months on delegated authority. See 47 C. F. R. § 73.624. The Bureau is not authorized to grant the requested relief. Furthermore, Paxson has not demonstrated any reason that it should be treated differently from all of the other applicants that were granted the six- month extension authorized by the Rules. 3. If Paxson seeks an additional extension beyond the six- month extension that has been granted to it, it shall be required to file a new FCC Form 337 for each station. These further extension 1 Federal Communications Commission DA 02- 2076 2 requests must set forth, in detail, the steps that have been taken to date to complete construction expeditiously and the unforeseeable or uncontrollable delays or events that have prevented the licensee from completing construction of the authorized DTV facilities. Each licensee shall also demonstrate the steps it plans to take towards completion of its station’s construction and specify a date on which it reasonably expects to commence DTV operations. 4. ACCORDINGLY, IT IS ORDERED, THAT the request by Paxson Communications Corporation that the Media Bureau increase the six- month DTV construction permit extensions granted to the above referenced stations to twelve months IS DENIED.
