The new layout and improved functionality of ULS License Search provides FCC customers more search options, better control of search criteria, and faster, easier navigation of displayed licensing information. Enhancements include customizable views of locations and frequencies associated with a license, printable page formatting, printable reference copies of authorizations, and a host of other new features which improve performance and provide greater access to the WTB’s license database. New Java Server Pages technology and HTML forms dramatically increase the speed of searches and cut the time required to load search results pages. Many browser/ operating system compatibility issues have also been eliminated. € Direct Access to Information— One of the guiding principles for the redesign of License Search has been to minimize the need to “drill down,” i. e., follow link after link to reach the information you need. Many of the new features, such as navigation tabs and menus for the license detail pages, were designed to provide you with direct access to the information in our database. License detail screens have also been designed with accessibility in mind. € New Basic and Advanced License Search Pages— ULS License Search has been divided into a Basic and Advanced search— similar to commercial search engines available across the Internet. The search fields most often used by ULS customers can be easily selected on the Basic Search page, eliminating the need to read through the entire list of ULS search fields. If you require a more detailed set of search criteria, select Advanced Search. € Service Specific Searches— New service specific search screens reduce your work and allow you to enter search criteria only pertaining to licenses within a specific wireless service. Service Specific Searches are available for Amateur, Aircraft, Commercial and Restricted, GMRS, Ship, and Market- Based licenses. € No Limit on Search Results— There is no longer a limit to the number of records returned by License Search. Previously this limit was set at 3,000. € License Search Detail Screens— The ULS License Search detail screens have been designed to make finding information on licenses straightforward. New navigation tabs across the top of the screen provide you with instant access to general and administrative information, antenna and transmitter locations, frequencies, and other data. The detail pages also provide a number of custom features for finding and organizing information: € Click on the file number of an application or automated letter to access those records directly in a new browser window. € Display all Locations for a license, or ‘jump” to specific locations, using navigation tools at the top and bottom of every Locations page. € Display detailed Frequencies data in different views, customized for each radio service. € Quickly access all frequencies associated with a given location, or click a convenient jump menu to “filter” frequencies by locations. € Improved Geographical Search— Find a location by searching around a geographical center point. Specify the point by state and county; by street address, city, state, or zip code combinations; or by latitude and longitude. Combine an advanced search with a geographical search to display results geographically. € Printable Page— A new Printable Page button appears at the top of every search results and detail screen, allowing you to print the contents of the page pre- formatted for most common printers. € Reference Copy— A new Reference Copy button appears at the top of every license detail screen, allowing you to print an unofficial copy of the license. € Redesigned Query Download— Click the new Query Download button at the top of any search results screen, enter your e- mail address, and ULS will send the results of your search to you by e- mail in a pipe- delimited text (*. txt) file. Import this file into your favorite spreadsheet application. 3
