 By  the  Senior  Deputy  Chief,  Wireline  Competition  Bureau: 
 1.  On  December  5,  2002,  the  Commission  released  a  public  notice  advising  that  interested  persons  may  file  “statements  opposing  or  supporting”  the  above-  captioned  petition  for 
 rulemaking  (RM-  10613)  within  30  days  of  that  public  notice,  or  by  January  6,  2003.  1 
 2.  On  December  13,  2002,  the  Office  of  Communication  of  the  United  Church  of  Christ,  Inc.  (UCC)  filed  a  motion  for  extension  of  time  to  file  statements  regarding  the  petition 
 for  rulemaking.  UCC  requests  that  the  Commission  extend  the  deadline  for  filing  statements  until  January  31,  2003 


 3.  UCC  states  that  in  order  for  interested  persons  to  have  sufficient  time  to  review  the  petition  and  submit  substantive  statements  in  opposition  to,  or  in  support  of  the  petition,  an 
 extension  of  the  filing  deadline  is  necessary  in  light  of  the  holiday  season.  UCC  also  states  that  an  extension  of  the  filing  deadline  to  January  31,  2003,  will  not  prejudice  any  party  because 
 there  is  no  critical  immediate  period  of  time  in  which  the  Commission  must  act  on  the  petition  for  rulemaking. 


 4.  It  is  the  policy  of  the  Commission  that  extensions  of  time  are  not  routinely  granted.  2  In  this  instance,  however,  UCC  has  shown  good  cause  for  an  extension  of  the  deadline 
 for  filing  statements  in  this  proceeding.  We  therefore  grant  UCC’s  motion  and  extend  the  deadline  for  filing  statements  regarding  its  petition  for  rulemaking  to  January  31,  2003.

 5.  Therefore,  IT  IS  ORDERED  that  the  Motion  for  Extension  of  Time  for  Filing  Statements  regarding  RM-  10613,  filed  by  the  Office  of  Communication  of  the  United  Church  of 
 Christ,  Inc.,  IS  GRANTED. 
 6.  IT  IS  FURTHER  ORDERED  that  the  deadline  for  filing  statements  regarding  RM-  10613  IS  EXTENDED  to  January  31,  2003.
