 By  the  Assistant  Chief,  Audio  Division: 
 1.  The  Audio  Division  has  before  it  a  Notice  of  Proposed  Rule  Making  (“  Notice”)  1  ,  which  includes  the  captioned  proceeding.  The  Notice  set  forth  two  separate  proposals  to  allot  FM  channels  to  two  separate 
 communities.  2  JEM  Broadcasting  Company,  Inc.,  (“  Petitioner”),  requests  the  allotment  of  Channel  245A  to  Jasper,  Arkansas,  as  that  community’s  first  local  aural  transmission  service.  Petitioner  filed  no  comments  in 
 response  to  the  Notice.  No  other  comments  or  expressions  of  interest  were  received  in  response  to  the  Notice. 


 2.  As  stated  in  the  Appendix  to  the  Notice,  a  showing  of  continuing  interest  is  required  before  a  channel  will  be  allotted.  It  is  the  Commission’s  policy  to  refrain  from  making  a  new  allotment  to  a 
 community  absent  an  expression  of  interest.  Therefore,  since  comments  were  not  received  from  the  Petitioner  supporting  the  allotment  of  Channel  245A  to  Jasper,  Arkansas,  or  any  other  party,  we  will  dismiss 
 the  Petition  for  Rule  Making. 
 3.  IT  IS  ORDERED,  That  the  Petition  for  Rulemaking  filed  by  JEM  Broadcasting  Company,  Inc.  IS  DISMISSED. 


 4.  IT  IS  FURTHER  ORDERED,  That  this  proceeding  IS  TERMINATED.
