C. 20554 News Media Information 202 / 418- 0500 Internet: http:// www. fcc. gov TTY: 1- 888- 835- 5322 DA 03- 214 January 28, 2003 Verizon’s Request For Permission to Withdraw Its Petition Is Granted CCB/ CPD No. 99- 21 On April 19, 2002, Verizon Communications Corporation (Verizon) filed a Request for Permission to Withdraw its May 24, 1999 petition to initiate switched access facilities management services. 1 Verizon states that since it filed its petition the Commission adopted its order in the access charge reform proceeding that, among other things, established a framework for pricing flexibility for switched transport services, and instituted rules that allowed the price cap carriers to introduce new switched access rate elements without the need for a petition. 2 Verizon states that, in light of these developments, it has decided to withdraw its petition. The Pricing Policy Division of the Wireline Competition Bureau has reviewed and hereby approves Verizon’s request to withdraw its petition. Accordingly, the proceeding designated as CCB/ CPD No. 99- 21 is closed. Action by the Chief, Pricing Policy Division, Wireline Competition Bureau.
