 SIX  ORGANIZATIONS  WILL  ASSUME  RESPONSIBILTY  FOR  CELLULAR  SID  ADMINISTRATION 


 Transition  of  Responsibilities  Scheduled  for  Fall  2003 


 By  Public  Notice  on  May  23,  2003,  the  Commercial  Wireless  Division  (Division)  of  the  Wireless  Telecommunications  Bureau  asked  parties  interested  in  performing  as  a  Cellular  SID 
 Administrator  to  sign  a  Memorandum  of  Understanding  and  submit  it  to  the  Commission  by  June  9,  2003.  1 


 We  have  signed  agreements  with  six  organizations  to  perform  the  administration  responsibilities  for  Cellular  SIDs.  Over  the  next  few  months,  these  recognized  administrators  will  work  towards 
 transitioning  the  Cellular  SID  administration  process  from  the  FCC  to  the  private  sector.  It  is  our  goal  to  transition  this  responsibility  in  the  fall  of  2003.  By  another  Public  Notice,  we  will 
 provide  additional  information  on  the  Cellular  SID  Administrators,  the  transition  process,  and  the  transition  date.  We  plan  to  provide  the  cellular  industry  with  at  least  30  days  notice  prior  to  the 
 transition.  Until  the  responsibility  for  SID  administration  is  transferred  to  the  private  sector,  the  FCC  will  continue  to  perform  as  the  Cellular  SID  administrator. 


 The  Division  has  signed  a  Memorandum  of  Understanding  with  the  organizations  listed  below.
