*Pages 1--2 from Microsoft Word - 30161* PUBLIC NOTICE Federal Communications Commission 445 12 th St., S. W. Washington, D. C. 20554 News Media Information 202 / 418- 0500 Internet: http:// www. fcc. gov TTY: 1- 888- 835- 5322 DA- 03- 2634 August 12, 2003 Important Change to the IBFS Space Station Authorizations – 312 Main Form This Public Notice is issued to advise filers of Space Station applications of an important change to the Space Station Authorizations – 312 Main Form, now available on the IBFS system. As you may know, on August 6, 2003, the International Bureau (IB) published a Public Notice entitled, “International Bureau Clarifies Requirements For Filing Satellite License Applications.” This Public Notice clarified the International Bureau’s policy with respect to applications for multiple geostationary satellite-orbit (GSO) satellites. (Click here to view the Public Notice: http:// hraunfoss. fcc. gov/ edocs_ public/ attachmatch/ DA- 03- 2603A1. doc.) To better accommodate applicants’ requests for multiple GSO satellite authorizations in a single satellite application, IB has modified the Space Station Form available on IBFS. The form now contains a new entry field in Block 25, which requires the filer to enter the number of satellites being requested in each GSO- like satellite application for license. What is the practical impact of this change once the freeze is lifted? If you have drafted a space station license application for a GSO- like satellite( s), you must now enter the number of satellites for which you seek authorization in Block 25 of the form and revalidate it before attempting to file the application. For example, if you seek authorization for only one GSO- like satellite, you must enter “1” in the box entitled, “Number of Satellites” in Block 25; if you seek authorization for two GSO- like satellites, you must enter “2” in “Number of Satellites” box. If you attempt to file a GSO- like authorization form in which you 1 2 have not entered this information, you will receive an error message upon filing the application. The time required to correct the error may impact your placement in the Queue. For all other filings, the Number of Satellites must be left blank. If you have any questions about this Public Notice, please call Mary Jane Solomon on 202- 418- 0593. 2
