(See Public Notices dated October 15, 2003, DA 03- 3226 and October 20, 2003, DA 03- 3311.) Specifically, the hearing is scheduled as follows: Date/ Time: Wednesday, October 22, 2003 5: 30 PM – 8: 45 PM Location: Charlotte- Mecklenburg Government Meeting Chamber 600 East Fourth Street Charlotte, North Carolina Chairman Powell will preside along with Commissioners Abernathy, Copps and Adelstein. The purpose of the hearing is to gather information from consumers, industry, civic organizations, and others on broadcasters’ service to their local communities. An important focus of the hearing will be to gather information and to conduct outreach for the nationwide round of broadcast station license renewals that is just beginning. The panel members were selected with the goal of making the panels balanced and informative, and include representatives from consumer and advocacy groups, the creative community, and commercial and noncommercial broadcasters. The program has been designed to permit members of the public to participate via an open microphone and also by submitting written questions at the hearing. The agenda containing a list of panelists is attached. Open captioning will be provided for this event. Other reasonable accommodations for people with disabilities are available upon request.
