C. 20554 News Media Information 202 / 418- 0500 Internet: http:// www. fcc. gov TTY: 1- 888- 835- 5322 DA 04- 1063 RM- 10836 Released: April 22, 2004 MEDIA BUREAU ACTION ADICORP MOTION TO SUSPEND OR, IN THE ALTERNATIVE, TO DISMISS WITHOUT PREJUDICE On March 31, 2004, Alert Devices International Corporation (“ AdiCorp”) filed a “Motion to Suspend or, in the Alternative, to Dismiss Without Prejudice” its Petition for Rulemaking in the above- captioned proceeding in order to permit AdiCorp time to perform tests of its proposed Emergency Vehicle Signaling Service (“ EVSS”). AdiCorp asserts that the establishment of an EVSS will help contribute to the reduction of high- speed accidents by giving motorists warning of an oncoming emergency vehicle. In view of the wide range of technical concerns regarding EVSS raised by commenters in this proceeding, ADiCorp requests time to assemble the data necessary to help the Commission evaluate the benefits of EVSS and to assess whether any interference EVSS may cause is sufficiently rare and acceptable in light of the benefits the service may provide. On April 19, 2004, AdiCorp supplemented its Motion and stated for the record that it will submit test results to the Commission regarding EVSS no later than November 1, 2004. We hereby grant Adicorp’s Motion to Suspend this proceeding until November 1, 2004. If at that time, AdiCorp has not submitted test results to the Commission, this proceeding will be terminated.
