(See Press Release dated March 5, 2004.) Chairman Michael K. Powell, Commissioner Michael J. Copps, and Commissioner Jonathan S. Adelstein will preside. The hearing date, time, and location are as follows: Date/ Time: Wednesday, May 26, 2004 5: 30 p. m. – 9: 00 p. m. Location: Surbeck Student Center Ballroom South Dakota School of Mines and Technology 501 East Saint Joseph Street Rapid City, South Dakota The purpose of the hearing is to gather information from consumers, industry, civic organizations, and others on broadcasters’ service to their local communities. An important focus of the hearing will be to gather information and to conduct outreach for the ongoing nationwide round of broadcast station license renewals. The designated speakers will include representatives from consumer and advocacy groups as well as broadcasters. The hearing format will enable members of the public to participate via an “open microphone” session. Additional details regarding the designated speakers, agenda, and hearing format will be announced shortly. Open captioning will be provided for this event.
