C. 20554 In the Matter of: Adelphia Cable Communications Petition for Determination of Effective Competition in Boca Raton, FL FL0278, FL0284 and FL0773 ) ) ) ) ) ) ) ) ) CSR 6384- E ORDER Adopted: October 12, 2004 Released: October 15, 2004 By the Deputy Chief, Policy Division, Media Bureau: 1. The City of Boca Raton, Florida (the “City”) filed a Motion for Extension of Time (“ Motion”) to file its opposition to Adelphia Cable Communications Petition for Special Relief (“ Petition”) in the above- captioned matter. The City states that, due to the recent catastrophic events as a result of Hurricane Francis and Hurricane Jeanne, the City would be unable to respond to Adelphia’s Petition under the normal pleading deadline. The City requests that it be granted until November 19, 2004 to file an opposition to Adelphia’s Petition. Adelphia filed an Opposition to the City’s request arguing that, although it did not object to a reasonable extension of time, the City’s request for an extension until November 19, 2004 was excessive. 2. The recent unprecedented weather events affecting the State of Florida, including the Boca Raton area, provide good cause to grant the City’s request. Given the widespread interruption of power and other public services and the need for Boca Raton city officials to focus their attention on relief efforts, we do not view the City’s extension request as excessive. The City’s opposition to Adelphia’s Petition will be due on or before November 19, 2004. Adelphia’s reply will be due 10 days thereafter. 3. Accordingly, IT IS ORDERED that the Motion for Extension of Time filed by the City of Boca Raton, Florida in the above- captioned proceeding IS GRANTED to the extent indicated herein. 4. This action is taken under delegated authority pursuant to Section 0.283 of the Commission’s rules. 1 FEDERAL COMMUNICATIONS COMMISSION Steven A.
