C. 20554 In Re Application of ) ) MEDIA GENERAL BROADCASTING OF ) File No. BRCT- 20040802BIK SOUTH CAROLINA HOLDINGS, INC. ) Facility ID No. 66407 ) For Renewal of License for ) Station WBTW( TV), Florence, SC ) ORDER GRANTING EXTENSION OF TIME Adopted: December 21, 2004 Released: December 22, 2004 By the Chief, Video Division: 1. The Chief, Video Division, Media Bureau, acting pursuant to delegated authority, hereby considers the request of Common Cause South Carolina and Free Press for an extension of time to respond to an opposition to a “Petition To Deny” the above- captioned renewal application, filed by Media General Broadcasting of South Carolina Holdings, Inc. (“ Media General”), licensee of WBTW( TV), Florence, South Carolina. Media General sought and received an extension of time until December 15, 2004 to its opposition pleading. 1 2. By the instant request, petitioners seek an extension of time until January 31, 2005 to file reply pleadings. They state that the additional time is necessary to prepare a thorough response to the over 100- page opposition pleading filed by Media General. Moreover, as a result of the extension granted Media General, the period to file a reply pleading now falls over the holidays, when communication with clients and staff support are limited and the attorney primarily responsible for this case is out of the country and remaining counsel have pre- existing responsibilities in other matters. Finally, the petitioners maintain that the requested brief extension will not prejudice any party or unduly delay the resolution of this proceeding. 3. For good cause shown, we will grant the requested extension of time. We believe that a brief extension of time will not unduly delay the resolution of this proceeding and will allow for the submission of a more thorough response to the matters raised. 1 See Media General Broadcasting of South Carolina Holdings, Inc., DA 04- 3689, released November 24, 2004. 1 Federal Communications Commission DA 04- 4010 ________________________________________________________________________ 2 4.
