C. 20554 DA 04- 9 January 6, 2004 WIRELESS TELECOMMUNICATIONS BUREAU ACTION THE NEW YORK METROPOLITAN AREA (REGION 8) RECEIVES APPROVAL FOR MINOR AMENDMENTS TO ITS PUBLIC SAFETY REGIONAL PLAN (GENERAL DOCKET NO. 88- 476) By this Public Notice, the Wireless Telecommunications Bureau (Bureau) announces that the New York Metropolitan area (Region 8) 1 Public Safety Regional Planning Committee's proposal to amend the Region 8 Public Safety Regional Plan is approved. On August 18, 2003, Region 8 filed an amendment, which proposed to revise the current channel allotments for radio frequencies in the 821- 824/ 866- 869 MHz bands within the New York Metropolitan area, and reflected changes made as a result of its Seventh Window application process, as indicated in the attached Appendix 1. In accordance with the National Public Safety Plan, each region is responsible for planning its use of public safety radio frequency spectrum in the 821- 824/ 866- 869 MHz bands. 2 The Region 8 Plan, which was originally adopted by the Commission on May 12, 1989, 3 has been amended several times in the last fourteen years. 4 On October 9, 2003, the Bureau issued a Public Notice (DA 03- 3156) inviting interested parties to file comments regarding a proposed amendment to the Region 8 Plan. 5 We have reviewed the Region 8 request, which modifies the 1 Region 8 includes Southwestern Connecticut, Southern New York and Northeastern New Jersey. 2 See Development and Implementation of a Public Safety National Plan and Amendment to Part 90 to Establish Service Rules and Technical Standards for Use of the 821- 824/ 766- 869 MHz Bands by the Public Safety Services, Report and Order, Gen. Region 8 has imposed operational limitations in order to add these proposed allotments. We received no comments in response to the Public Notice of October 9, 2003. The amendment is, therefore, accepted and approved as submitted. The Secretary's office will place the amended Region 8 Plan in the official docket file where it will remain available to the public.
