The meeting dates in calendar year 2005 under the Council’s new charter published in the Federal Register at 69 FR 6712- 01 on March 25, 2005. The Charter is available at http:// www. fcc. gov/ oet/ tac/. The first meeting of the TAC under the new charter will take place on Friday, April 15, 2005, from 10: 00 a. m. to 3: 00 p. m. in the Commission Meeting Room, TW- C305 at 445 12 TH Street, S. W., Washington, D. C. At this meeting the Council will consider the topics of wireless device security and strategic challenges for cybersecurity. Other TAC meetings in 2005 will take place on Thursday, July 28 th and October 27 th at the same time and location. The purpose of the TAC is to provide technical advice to the Federal Communications Commission and to make recommendations on the issues and questions presented to it by the Federal Communications Commission. Under the leadership of Dr. Robert Lucky, the TAC Chairman, the TAC will address questions referred to it by the FCC Chairman, by the FCC Chief Office of Engineering and Technology or by the TAC Designated Federal Officer. The questions referred to the TAC will be directed to technological and technical issues in the field of communications. Each scheduled TAC meeting will be organized according to a particular technical theme to be decided in advance by the TAC Chairman and the TAC Designated Federal Officer. The TAC Chairman will make the necessary arrangements to have presenters from different segments of the telecommunications industry present points of view on the theme. The objective of the meeting will be to educate the Federal Communications Commission on new technology trends and to advise the Federal Communications Commission of potential regulatory obstacles to their development and deployment.
