C. 20554 In the matter of Revision of Part 15 of the Commission’s Rules Regarding Ultra- Wideband Transmission Systems ) ) ) ) ) ET Docket No. 98- 153 ORDER GRANTING AN EXTENSION OF TIME TO FILE REPLY COMMENTS Adopted: July 11, 2005 Released: July 12, 2005 By the Deputy Chief Engineer: 1. On March 11, 2005, the Satellite Industry Association (“ SIA”) filed a Petition for Reconsideration of the Commission’s Second Report and Order and Second Memorandum Opinion and Order in the above entitled proceeding. 1 A Public Notice announcing SIA’s petition was released on May 25, 2005. 2 Comments were due on or before June 30, 2005, and reply comments are due on or before July 11, 2005. 2. On July 11, 2005, SIA filed a request for an extension of the reply comment date until July 20, 2005. 3 SIA states that an extension is necessary to respond to the technical issues raised in the opposition submitted by Freescale Semiconductor, Inc. (“ Freescale”). 3. The Commission does not routinely grant extensions of time in rule making proceedings. However, we believe that a short extension of the reply comment period will enable SIA to fully analyze the information submitted by Freescale. Accordingly, IT IS ORDERED, pursuant to the delegated authority contained in 47 C. F. R. §§ 0.31 and 0.241( a), that the time period for filing reply comments in the above captioned proceeding IS EXTENDED to July 20, 2005. FEDERAL COMMUNICATIONS COMMISSION Bruce Franca Deputy Chief, Office of Engineering and Technology 1 See Second Report and Order and Second Memorandum Opinion and Order, ET Docket No. 98- 153, 19 FCC Rcd 24558 (2004). 2 Petitions for Reconsideration of Action in Rulemaking Proceeding, Report No. 2712, May 25, 2005. Notice of the petition was filed in the Federal Register on June 15, 2005. See 70 FR 34766 (June 15, 2005). 3 SIA incorrectly requested a one week extension, believing that reply comments are due on July 13, 2005, instead of July 11, 2005. 1
