C. 20554 News Media Information 202 / 418- 0500 Internet: http:// www. fcc. gov TTY: 1- 888- 835- 5322 DA 05- 2291 Released: August 16, 2005 WIRELINE COMPETITION BUREAU GRANTS MOTION FOR LIMITED EXTENSION OF TIME FOR FILING REPLY COMMENTS IN APCC SERVICES, INC. PETITION FOR RECONSIDERATION OF THE WIRELINE COMPETITION BUREAU’S DECISION GRANTING THE DOMESTIC SECTION 214 APPLICATION FILED FOR ACQUISITION OF ASSETS OF TRANSTEL COMMUNICATIONS, INC., TEL AMERICA OF SALT LAKE CITY, INC., EXTELCOM, INC., TO UCN, INC. WC Docket No. 05- 198 On August 15, 2005, APCC Services, Inc. (“ APCC”) filed a motion pursuant to section 1.46 of the Commission’s Rules 1 to extend the period for filing a reply to the Joint Opposition of Tel America of Salt Lake City, Inc. and UCN, Inc. to the Petition filed by APCC for reconsideration of the Wireline Competition Bureau’s decision to grant the domestic section 214 application filed for acquisition of assets of Transtel Communications, Inc., Tel America of Salt Lake City, Inc., Extelcom, Inc., to UCN, Inc. 2 The deadline for filing replies was August 15, 2005. The Motion requests an extension of time because counsel for APCC is currently occupied directly with other Commission proceedings and deadlines. APCC argues that because counsel for UCN, Inc. and Transtel Communications, Inc/ Tel America of Salt Lake City, Inc. have consented to the extension, no party to this proceeding suffers any prejudice by the grant of this request. 3 The Commission does not routinely grant motions for extension of time. Nevertheless, we still consider and, in certain instances, grant limited requests for extensions of time where we find that the public interest would be served by a more complete discussion of the matters pending before the Commission. We believe that it is in the public interest to decide this matter with the most complete and well- developed record possible. Because of the Commission’s desire to obtain a complete record and the fact that APCC’s request is unopposed, we find that a brief extension of time appropriately balances the interests of commenting parties. Therefore, parties have until August 22, 2005 to file replies. For further information, please contact Erin Boone at (202) 418- 0064. - FCC - 1 47 C. F.
