C. 20554 News Media Information 202 / 418- 0500 Internet: http:// www. fcc. gov TTY: 1- 888- 835- 5322 DA 05- 2968 RELEASED: November 16, 2005 NETWORK RELIABILITY AND INTEROPERABILITY COUNCIL TO HOLD MEETING The FCC’s Network Reliability and Interoperability Council will hold the last meeting under the Council’s current charter on Friday, December 16, 2005, from 9: 00 am to 11: 00 am at the Federal Communications Commission, in the Commission Meeting Room at 445 12th Street, S. W., Washington, D. C. 20554. The Council originally was established by the Federal Communications Commission to bring together leaders of the telecommunications industry and telecommunications experts from academic, consumer and other organizations to explore and recommend measures that will enhance network reliability and security. At this sixth and last meeting under the Council’s current charter, the Council will review recommendations from its focus groups, including best practices for addressing near- term E911 issues, final recommendations for next generation E911 architectures and transition issues, new best practices for improving the reliability of E911 networks and services, target network architectures for communications with emergency services personnel, and best practices for network security. Members of the general public may attend to observe the meeting. The Federal Communications Commission will attempt to accommodate as many people as possible. Admittance, however, will be limited to the seating available. Unless so requested by the Council’s Chair, there will be no public oral participation, but the public may submit written comments to Jeffery Goldthorp, the Federal Communications Commission’s Designated Federal Officer for the Network Reliability and Interoperability Council, before the meeting.
