 DTV  Channel  Election  Issues  –  Media  Bureau  Extends  Filing  Deadline  for  Compliance  with  the  July  1,  2006

 In  paragraph  78  of  the  Second  DTV  Periodic  Review  Report  and  Order,  the  Commission  established  deadlines  for  licensees  to  construct  and  operate  digital  facilities  in  order  to  retain 


 interference  protection  within  their  certified  service  areas.  1 
 On  June  14,  2006,  the  Commission  issued  a  Public  Notice  regarding  compliance  with  the  July  1,  2006  replication/  maximization  interference  protection  deadline  set  forth  in  paragraph  78.  2 


 Noting  that  July  1,  2006  is  a  Saturday,  we  extended  the  July  1,  2006  filing  deadline  to  the  following  Monday,  July  3,  2006.  3  A  request  has  been  made  to  further  extend  that  filing  deadline 
 until  July  7,  2006.  Due  to  the  impact  of  recent  inclement  weather  in  the  Washington,  D.  C.  area  and  the  proximity  of  the  July  3,  2006  deadline  to  the  July  4  th  holiday,  the  Media  Bureau  finds 
 good  cause  to  grant  that  request.  Accordingly,  pursuant  to  Section  1.3  of  the  Commission’s  rules,  4  we  extend  the  July  3,  2006  filing  deadline  set  forth  in  the  2006  Public  Notice  to  Friday, 
 July  7,  2006.
