C.: Pursuant to Section 603( d)( 3) of the Warning Alert and Response Network Act (WARN Act) , 1 this Public Notice gives notice that the Federal Communications Commission’s Commercial Mobile Service Alert Advisory Committee (the “Committee”) will hold its first meeting on Tuesday, December 12, 2006 2 starting at 10: 00 a. m. in the Commission Meeting Room (TW- C305), Federal Communications Commission, Portals II, 445 12 th Street, SW, Washington, D. C. 20554. Topics for the first meeting will include the committee’s mission and organizational structure. The Commission will announce the Committee’s membership and release an agenda for the December 12, 2006 meeting at a later date. In order to allow the Commission to complete its membership selection process in sufficient time to prepare for the first meeting, this Public Notice also serves as notice that the Commission will no longer accept nominations to serve on the Committee after November 22, 2006. 3 In order to be considered, nominations must be received by November 22, 2006. In light of the November 22, 2006 closing date, we suggest that nominations be submitted via fax or email. SUPPLEMENTARY INFORMATION: The December 12, 2006 meeting is open to members of the general public. The Commission will attempt to accommodate as many people as possible. Admittance, 1 WARN Act § 603( d)( 3). The WARN Act was enacted on October 13, 2006 as part of the Security and Accountability For Every Port Act, Pub. L. No. 109- 347, 120 Stat. 1936- 1943 (2006). 2 Section 603( d)( 1) of the WARN Act requires the Committee’s first meeting be held “no later than 60 days after the date of enactment of this Act.” WARN Act § 603( d)( 1). 3 On October 16, 2006, the Commission released a Public Notice seeking nominations for membership on the Committee. The Public Notice encouraged parties to submit their nominations as early as possible in light of the WARN Act’s requirement that the Committee hold its first meeting within 60 days of the statute’s enactment (i. e., December 12, 2006).
