Washington, D.C. 20554 News Media Information 202 / 418-0500 Internet: http://www.fcc.gov TTY: 1-888-835-5322 DA 06-2571 Released: December 21, 2006 OFFICE OF ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY INVITES SUBMITTAL OF PROTOTYPE TV BAND DEVICES FOR TESTING The Commission on October 12, 2006 adopted a First Report and Order and Further Notice of Proposed Rule Making in ET Docket Nos. 04-186 and 02-380 to permit the operation of new low power devices in the broadcast television spectrum (TV bands) on channels/frequencies that are not being used for authorized services (referred to as “TV band devices”). The Commission stated that it plans to conduct testing to assess the potential interference from low power devices operating in the TV bands. This public notice invites interested parties to submit prototype TV band devices to the Commission’s Laboratory for testing.
