C. 20554 News Media Information 202 / 418- 0500 Internet: http:// www. fcc. gov TTY: 1- 888- 835- 5322 DA 06- 671 March 28, 2006 WIRELESS TELECOMMUNICATIONS BUREAU EXTENDS REPLY COMMENT DEADLINE FOR REQUEST FOR WAIVER OF TELEVISION INTERFERENCE RULES BY THE STATE OF NEW YORK TO IMPLEMENT A 700 MHz PUBLIC SAFETY COMMUNICATIONS SYSTEM WT Docket No. 06- 18 Revised Reply Comment Deadline: April 4, 2006 On January 26, 2006, the Wireless Telecommunications Bureau’s Public Safety and Critical Infrastructure Division issued a public notice indicating that initial comments regarding the Request for Waiver 1 filed by the State of New York (New York) to permit implementation of a new 700 MHz public safety radio communications system within specified counties in the greater New York City metropolitan area prior to the end of the transition from analog television (TV) to digital television (DTV) would be due on or before March 13, 2006, and reply comments would be due on or before March 28, 2006. 2 On March 24, 2006, New York requested a one- week extension of the reply comment deadline for its Request for Waiver (i. e., until April 4, 2006). 3 New York explains that it intends to file a reply in response to the initial comments of WFUT- TV and Mountain Broadcasting Corporation. 4 The reply will include additional technical studies based upon updated parameters of television Stations WFUT- TV and WMBC. 5 New York requests a one- week extension to complete the calculations for the technical studies. 6 We agree that New York should be given the opportunity to submit into the record of this proceeding additional technical studies based on updated and accurate information. In light of the updated parameters and their potentially considerable effects on the technical studies, we conclude that allowing New York additional time to complete the calculations is warranted. Accordingly, we grant New York’s motion and extend the reply comment deadline by one week, so that parties may file reply comments by April 4, 2006.
