On April 27, 2007, the Commission released a Further Notice of Proposed Rulemaking in the above-captioned proceedings.1 Initial comments were due May 23, 2007 and reply comments are due on or before May 30, 2007. 2. On May 24, 2007, the Rural Telecommunications Group, Inc. (RTG) filed a Motion for Extension of Time to extend the date for filing reply comments to June 6, 2007.2 RTG states that reply comments 1 Service Rules for the 698-746, 747-762 and 777-792 MHz Bands, WT Docket No. 06-150, Report and Order and Further Notice of Proposed Rulemaking, FCC No. 07-72 (rel. Apr. 27, 2007). Federal Communications Commission DA 07-2226 are currently due to be filed no later than four business days after initial comments were due. RTG asserts that four business days does not allow sufficient time to obtain and review the substantial number of initial comments filed in this proceeding and to develop a response to those comments and articulate that response in the form of reply comments. RTG also states that it is scheduled to hold a legislative and regulatory conference for its members on May 31, 2007. RTG indicates that an extension of time will allow its members to meet and discuss the important issues raised by the comments and incorporate the results of those discussions in its reply comments. 3. It is the policy of the Commission that extensions of time are not routinely granted.3 Such extensions may be warranted when, among other reasons, the additional time will serve the public interest. In the present instance, we grant in part RTG’s motion for extension of time by extending the deadline to file reply comments to June 4, 2007. While we find that providing the limited extension serves the public interest, we will not grant any further extensions of time in these proceedings in light of the time exigencies of this proceeding. 4. Accordingly, IT IS ORDERED that, pursuant to authority found in section 4(i) of the Communications Act of 1934, as amended, 47 U.S.C. § 154(i), and sections 0.131, 0.331 and 1.46 of the Commission’s rules, 47 C.F.R. §§ 0.131, 0.331, 1.46, the Motion for Extension of Time IS GRANTED, in part, to establish a new reply comment deadline of June 4, 2007. FEDERAL COMMUNICATIONS COMMISSION Fred B. Campbell, Jr. Chief Wireless Telecommunications Bureau 2 Rural Telecommunications Group, Motion For Extension of Time, WT Docket No. 06-150 (filed May 24, 2007). 3 See 47 C.F.R. § 1.46(a).
