Washington, D.C. 20554 News Media Information 202 / 418-0500 Internet: http://www.fcc.gov TTY: 1-888-835-5322 DA 07-2418 June 8, 2007 Comment Cycle Established for Commission’s Further Notice of Proposed Rulemaking Regarding Protection of Customer Proprietary Network Information CC Docket No. 96-115; WC Docket No. 04-36 On April 2, 2007, the Commission released a Further Notice of Proposed Rulemaking (Further Notice) seeking comment on what steps the Commission should take, if any, to secure further the privacy of customer information.1 Specifically, the Commission is seeking comment on whether it should act to expand its customer proprietary network information (CPNI) rules further, including for the purpose of ensuring that customer information and CPNI are protected in the context of mobile communications devices. On June 8, 2007, a summary of the Further Notice appeared in the Federal Register.2 Accordingly, comments will be due on July 9, 2007, and reply comments will be due on August 7, 2007.
