Washington, D.C. 20554 DA 07-3879 September 10, 2007 PUBLIC SAFETY AND HOMELAND SECURITY BUREAU ACTION REGION 51 (TEXAS-HOUSTON) PUBLIC SAFETY REGIONAL PLANNING COMMITTEE TO HOLD 700 MHz PUBLIC SAFETY REGIONAL PLANNING COMMITTEE MEETING The Region 51 (Texas-Houston)1 700 MHz Public Safety Regional Planning Committee (RPC) will hold its next meeting on Wednesday, October 3, 2007, beginning at 9:30 a.m., at the Houston Airport System, 16930 JFK Boulevard, Houston, Texas.2 The agenda for this meeting includes: § Call to order (Chairman Douglas Frankhouser) § Introduction of attendees and completion/verification of attendee information sheet § Presentation of required changes to public safety 700 MHz frequencies § Presentation of September meetings and RPC training in Austin § Discuss final draft concurrence agreed to by adjacent regions -- Region18 (Louisiana), Region 40 (Northern Texas), Region 49 (Central Texas-Austin), and Region 53 (Texas-El Paso) 1 Region 51 (Texas-Houston) area includes the City of Houston and the counties of Shelby, Nacogdoches, San Augustine, Sabine, Houston, Trinity, Angelina, Walker, San Jacinto, Polk, Tyler, Jasper, Newton, Montgomery, Liberty, Hardin, Orange, Waller, Harris, Chambers, Jefferson, Galveston, Brazoria, Fort Bend, Austin, Colorado, Wharton and Matagorda. 2 700 MHz Regional Planning Committees (RPCs) with approved plans or plans on file with the Commission (see WT Docket 02-378), are required to submit amended plans consistent with the decisions outlined in the 700 MHz proceeding. All eligible public safety providers whose sole or principal purpose is to protect the safety of life, health, or property in Region 51 may utilize these frequencies. It is essential that public safety agencies in all areas of government, including state, municipality, county, and Native American Tribal, and non-governmental organizations eligible under Section 90.523 of the Commission’s rules, be represented in order to ensure that each agency’s future spectrum needs are considered in the allocation process. Administrators who are not oriented in the communications field should delegate someone with this knowledge to attend, participate, and represent their agency’s needs. All interested parties wishing to participate in planning for the use of public safety spectrum in the 700 MHz band within Region 51 should plan to attend.
