Washington, D.C. 20554 News Media Information 202 / 418-0500 Internet: http://www.fcc.gov TTY: 1-888-835-5322 DA 07-3914 Released: September 13, 2007 MEDIA BUREAU ANNOUNCES COMMENT AND REPLY COMMENT DATES FOR THE DTV EIGHTH FURTHER NOTICE OF PROPOSED RULE MAKING MB DOCKET NO. 87-268 Comments Due: October 10, 2007 Reply Comments Due: October 25, 2007 On August 1, 2007, the Commission adopted a Seventh Report and Order and Eighth Further Notice of Proposed Rule Making in the Commission’s proceeding establishing a final DTV Table of Allotments for digital television (DTV).1 In the Seventh Report and Order, the Commission adopted a new DTV Table of Allotments providing eligible stations with channels for DTV operations after the DTV transition on February 17, 2009. In the Eighth Further Notice of Proposed Rule Making (“Eighth Further NPRM”), the Commission announced tentative channel designations for several new permittees that had recently attained permittee status and sought comment on the DTV channels and technical facilities we propose to assign these permittees for operation after the DTV transition. In addition, the Eighth Further NPRM sought comment on a number of other proposals for revisions to the DTV Table adopted in the Seventh Report and Order. The Eighth Further NPRM set deadlines for filing comments and reply comments at 30 and 45 days after publication in the Federal Register.2 On September 10, 2007, the Eighth Further NPRM was published in the Federal Register.3 Accordingly, comments must be filed on or before October 10, 2007 and reply comments must be filed on or before October 25, 2007.
