FOR THE NOTICE OF INQUIRY REGARDING THE DEVELOPMENT OF DEVICES 
CAPABLE OF SUPPORTING MULTIPLE AUDIO ENTERTAINMENT SERVICES

On August 25, 2008, the Commission released a Notice of Inquiry (“NOI”) on issues pertaining to 
(i) requiring devices capable of receiving Satellite Digital Audio Radio Service (“SDARS”) to include 
digital audio broadcast (“DAB”), or HD Radio™, or any other technologies capable of providing audio 
entertainment services; and (ii) requiring devices capable of receiving HD Radio to include SDARS or 
any other technologies capable of providing audio entertainment services.1 The NOI set deadlines for 
filing comments and reply comments at 60 and 90 days, respectively, after publication in the Federal 
Register.2
On September 10, 2008, the NOI was published in the Federal Register.3 Accordingly, 
comments must be filed on or before November 10, 2008 and reply comments must be filed on or before 
December 9, 2008.  Commenters should follow the filing instructions provided in paragraphs 23 through 
25 of the NOI.4 The NOI is also available on the Commission’s website.5
