On September 22, 2008, the Public Safety and Homeland Security Bureau released a Public Notice seeking comment on proposed changes, as well as any alternative modifications, to the location accuracy requirements set forth in section 20.18(h) of the Commission’s rules.1 The Public Notice stated that interested parties may file comments on or before 10 days of the publication of the Public Notice in the Federal Register, and reply comments on or before 17 days of such publication (at 12:00 noon).2 The Public Notice was published in the Federal Register on September 25, 2008.3 Thus, comments filed in response to the Public Notice were due on or before October 6, 2008, and reply comments are due on or before October 14, 2008, at 12:00 noon. 2. On October 7, 2008, the Rural Cellular Association and T-Mobile USA, Inc. (collectively, “the parties”) jointly filed a motion asking the Commission to extend the deadline for filing reply comments in this proceeding for an additional seven days.4 The parties argue that the Commission should grant their motion to “allow interested parties additional time to adequately review and consider the numerous comments that were filed yesterday.”5 3. We deny the parties’ request for extension of time to file reply comments. It is the policy of the Commission that extensions of time are not routinely granted.6 In light of the particular circumstances surrounding this matter, we find that a departure from this policy is not appropriate here. ACCORDINGLY, IT IS ORDERED that, pursuant to sections 4(i), 4(j), and 5(c) of the Communications Act, 47 U.S.C. §§ 154(i), 154(j), 155(c), and sections 0.191, 0.392, and 1.46 of the Commission’s rules, 47 C.F.R. §§ 0.191, 0.392, 1.46, the Motion for Extension of Time filed by the Rural Cellular Association and T-Mobile USA, Inc.
